Match Preview: Iron Vs Norwich City U21's

Qualification still possible, but many outcomes need to swing in The Iron's favour

· By Scott Weaver

Steve Pitt's Iron welcome the Young Canaries Tuesday Evening for the fourth and final group game in The National League Cup Group B

The Iron have faced some of the best youth teams in the country so far in Ipswich, Fulham and West Ham. They now find themselves sitting in sixth place after 1 win, 1 draw (lost on penalties) and 1 loss. However, the gap between the crucial second place and seventh is just one point! For The Iron to qualify, we have broken down what needs to happen for Steve to secure a spot in the quarter finals to make it three out of three:

Gameday 4 -

Braintree Town Vs Norwich City U21's

Hornchurch Vs West Ham United U21's

Aldershot Town Vs Ipswich Town U21'S

Worthing vs Fulham U21'S

The top two go through, West Ham have already qualified, Worthing are already out To qualify Iron must:

  • Win our game, preferably by as big of a goal difference as possible. A draw will not be good enough due to the bonus points system keeping Norwich in second regardless of whether we win them or not

  • Aldershot Vs lpswich can finish as a draw or an Aldershot win, as long as Iron win by a bigger margin than Aldershot

  • West Ham must win or draw with Hornchurch

  • Worthing Vs Fulham is best case scenario a Worthing win or draw, but a Fulham win is still possible as long as Iron, again, win by a bigger margin

It's all to play for in Group B so we hope to see as many as you as possible at Cressing Road Tuesday Evening to carry on the good form and secure the final spot in the Quarter Finals!
