The Enterprise National League South

Braintree Town v Hampton & Richmond Borough

The Iron are at home again on Saturday as they take on twenty second placed Hampton & Richmond Borough. Last season they finished eighteenth in the ENLS with a record of:

P 46 W 14 D 11 L 21 GF 56 GA 72 Points 53.

They reached the First Round of the F. A. Cup going out at Eastleigh 2-0 and went out by the same score line in the Trophy at the first time of asking away to Leatherhead.

Top scorers were Reece Grego-Cox with 11 goals and Craig Fasanmade (now at Chesham United) with 9 goals.

Their record this season is P 13 W 2 D 3 L 8 GF 16 GA 32 Points 9. On their travels this season they have P 7 W 0 D 2 L 5 GF 4 GA 18 Points 2, they picked up points at Torquay United (1-1) and Billericay Town (2-2).

Their bad start lead to the sacking of manager Alan Dowson on 12 October, he had been in charge since December 2025. Players Max Kretzschmar and Craig Saunders have been appointed in the interim.

They exited this season’s F. A. Cup at the first hurdle, having been held 3-3 at home to Crowborough, they lost the replay 1-0.

Leading scorer is Jasper Mather with five goals.

Or last meeting at Cressing Road was on 6 January 2024 with the Iron running out 3-1 winners. Matt Ward, Shaq Coulthirst netting two goals were the scorers for Angelo Harrop’s side.

Tuesday evening the Iron finally recorded a win and temporarily relieved the pressure on manager Steve Pitt. Dagenham even with Andy Carroll looked well below a fourth placed team in a dire football match where the ball was treated like a hot potato.

This game gives the Iron the chance to build on that win and distance themselves from their opponents, can they get a first clean sheet and another three points, we all know how we regularly trip up against sides at the bottom end of the table!.
